Hannah Hamelback Portfolio
WLEX Sports Multimedia Journalist - Western Kentucky University Broadcasting Graduate
About me
Hello! I am Hannah Hamelback, an aspiring Sports Reporter and Senior at Western Kentucky University. I will graduate in May of 2025 with a major in Broadcasting and a minor in Journalism, along with a certificate in Strategic Communications.
At school, I report and anchor for WKU's student-produced newscasts: The Extra Point and News Channel 12. For The Extra Point, I have co-anchored our annual live Homecoming broadcast, along with our annual March Madness show. For News Channel 12, I have anchored and reported on several stories such as the renovation of Bowling Green's historic College Street Bridge.
In the summer of 2023, I interned at ABC 36 WTVQ in Lexington, Kentucky. The internship included planning and organizing guests to appear on the 9 a.m. and noon show, coordinating social media posts, and producing segments for “High Noon” and “Let’s Talk Kentucky.” Notable segments I have produced: Lyssa and Doug High interview the University of Kentucky running back Ray Davis in honor of National Football Day, blind taste testing for National French Fry Day, and “Slang School” with the hosts of Let’s Talk Kentucky.
In the summer of 2024, I interned at LEX18's BBN Tonight, the official partner of the University of Kentucky Athletics. The internship included creating packages and VOSOTS for show content, anchoring NBC's "The Olympic Zone," assisting photogs with interview production, writing web stories, anchor-script writing, coordinating social media posts, and editing with Premier Pro.
